Oh man! Where do I begin! While I did not have the pleasure of sleeping at KNUST Engineering Guest House (there was quite a kerfuffle when this was discovered, I thought the bus was going to snap there was so much tension!) I did have the pleasure of chilling in the expansive foyer and eating their fabulous food. Again, I was unable to sleep there due to Toby’s sub-par scheduling skills and miscommunication with the hotel booker. However, we ate dinner at the house before moseying over to Augies Bed and Hotel Hostel for several nights. That said, the Jolof was fabulously satisfying (Erick let me eat his which was a win), and the fried rice was beyond scrumptious. But the standout dish of the kitchen was the chicken light soup with fufu. The mildly spicy soup (I could have used a little more kick) scorched my supple fingers, as I scooped the wonderfully textured fufu. The chicken was simple yet delicious, perfectly tender and succulent. The unmistakable taste of Kivo tickled my tongue (again, could have used some more) as I swallowed the last of my soup. However, this review would not be complete without mention of the KNUST Engineering Guest House famous engineering pizza. It was ordered by two travel mates, Paul and Mateo the Blue Boy, and while they did not love the flavor, the texture, or the looks of the little pie, they loved the idea, and that is what matters. Ok, on to the foyer. The spread out couches and chair in the corner provided comfortable viewing of the muted television that was a few sizes too small. With great views of the bar, and quick access to the party room, I honest-to-god can’t think of a better place to be. I spend several bored hours, and a few exited ones while looking at the rain, in this room and while not the highlight of the trip, it was not the worst part either (the worst part was dealing with one rather obnoxious trip leader). But enough batting around the bush, I wholeheartedly endorse KNUST Engineer Guest House, and if I have the chance to return to Kumasi would give their beds for a spin in a heartbeat. Let’s just hope Milo stays in his room this time ;)

Lovely edifice in the back woods of KNUST. Stately entrance and lobby and very polite staff. Room rates are affordable. Restaurant and bar open up until late. Nice quiet place away from the craziness of the city. Ideal for a weekend hideaway or conference meetings.

This is one of the best guess houses own by Knust. If for any reason, you get to Kumasi and looking for a place to lodge for the night, just locate them. It's mostly full getting to the weekends, I don't know why.
